If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord then you are “In Christ”. In Ephesians chapters 1-3 Paul records for us all that God has done for us, In Christ.

Every Spiritual Blessing “In Christ”

1:1 We are called Saints – a People set apart exclusively for God’s good Purposes

1:2, 6, 7 Recipients of God’s Grace and Peace

1:4 He chose us In Christ before the creation to be Holy

1:5 In Love, He predestined us for adoption to sonship, through Christ

1:7 In Christ we have redemption through His blood & the forgiveness of sins

1:9 God made known to us the mystery of His will which He purposed in Christ

1:10 All things will have unity under the perfect leadership of Christ

1:11 According to the will of God the Jews were chosen first In Christ for His praise and glory

1:13 Gentiles were included “In Christ” through the message of truth, the Gospel

1:14 We have been sealed In Christ by the giving of the Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance which we will receive when our final redemption of these earthly bodies takes place. We are God’s own special possession.

1:15 we have been given faith to follow Jesus and love the God’s people.

1:17 God has given us His spirit so that we may know Him better.

1:18, 19 By this same Spirit the eyes of our hearts are being opened to: the wonder of the hope to which we have been called; the riches of this glorious inheritance in the saints; and His incomparably great power for the believers.

1:20-23 This mighty resurrection power was exerted to raise Jesus from the dead and seat Him at God’s right hand. Jesus is above every other authority in heaven and earth.  God has placed Him as the head of the church, which is His Body, which is meant to be the fullness of Christ on earth.

2:1-5 Though we were spiritually dead in sin; following the ways of the world; following the evil one who is the spirit of disobedience; and satisfying the cravings of our own flesh; we were deserving only God’s wrath God made us ALIVE IN CHRIST by His own love and grace.

2:6 God exerted that same resurrection power in us and raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms. This is our present position and true home.  This He did as an act of His incomparable grace and kindness towards us who believe.

2:7-9 We have been saved by a sovereign act of grace, through faith. Even the faith we have in Christ is a gift from God so that no one may boast.

2:10 We, the church, together (and individually) are God’s masterpiece created In Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

2:11-13 We Gentiles were once far away separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship with God’s people, foreigners of the covenants of promise and without God. Now in Jesus Christ we have been brought near by His blood.

2:14-18 Jesus has made peace between Jews and Gentiles by fulfilling the law and rendering the old temple obsolete with its dividing wall of hostility. He has created one new people for God without distinctions: no Jew, no Greek, no male no female, no slave nor free all are one In Christ.  Through His body on the cross we have all been reconciled to God bringing peace to all who believe.  Now we have access to our Father by one Spirit.

2:19-22 We are now fellow citizens with God’s people, members of God’s household. Jesus is the cornerstone of this building and the apostles and prophets for the foundation and together with all the saints through the ages we form God’s holy temple where He now lives by His Spirit.

3:1-6 This is the mystery that has been hidden for ages and now made know through God’s holy Apostles and prophets namely: through the gospel of Christ, Gentiles are now heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promises in Christ Jesus.

3:7-13 The apostles were specially gifted by God to make known this mystery and to preach the boundless riches in Christ. God’s intent was that now, through the church, to make know the many facets of God’s incredible wisdom to all those in the heavenly realms according to HIS ETERNAL PUPOSE ACCOMPLISHED IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD. NOW we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

3:14-19 Paul does exactly this as he bends his knees to pray to God. Paul calls on God the Father as the head of the family in heaven and earth.  He asks for:

  • God to strengthen us with His power through the Spirit in our inner being
  • That Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith
  • That we who have been rooted and established in Love may have this divine power to understand all the dimensions of Christ’s love that is far beyond what we could ever naturally grasp.
  • That we may be filled not to our own natural, limited capacity but that we would be stretched to the limit only God can take us to in understanding and knowing Him.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
